Happy Holidays!

Thanksgiving came quickly! We drove to San Francisco and had a fun fun time.

Dad & Holly dancing in the living room at Vicki's.

We ate at the best Chinese restaurant in SF! We just told them to bring us whatever they wanted to serve us!

Nel & Jen making amazing mashed potatoes!

A quick family photo.

Holly, Scott, Nel and I went downtown for dinner at Little Joe's (GREAT Italian!!!) Then walked next door to Nordstrom and took a photo of the atrium inside. It was such a beautiful sight to see!

We decorated our small little tree! So cute!

We canned for the first time in our lives!!
We canned some homemade Marinara sauce!!

To wrap up the year...2009 has been good.
We've had lots of challenges that have left us stronger people and we now look forward to 2010 with lots of eagerness and excitement. We are so blessed to have such good health, great families, amazing friends and a marriage full of laughter love and fun!

We send our blessings out into the world and hope everyone savors the joy of the holidays!

Happy Fall!

Hello and greetings!

Happy Fall!
We took a well deserved trip to Connecticut in October. The fall colors were breath taking and the company made us feel right at home.
Here are some photos from Charlie's wedding (Nel's childhood friend,)dinner at The Forrests and Yankee Candle factory.

We also took our first camping trip in California! Lord knows we've been here awhile, and finally we got out with Chuck, Martha & the kids for a little getaway. : ) After camping we went to the apple orchards in the Santa Barbara mountains where folks go to pick apples, pumpkins or make their own cider.

My job has changed for the best! I am now working with highly popular music in a music publishing company called Opus19. It's a sister company to where I was doing licensing, and it's a welcomed new change!

Nel continues to write and be creative. It's a joy to read his work.

My brother is in a new musical showing in Santa Monica. Dad is down this weekend from Seattle and we saw it twice over the weekend. Scott is so talented and it's pure joy to watch him perform.

I'm thrilled the holiday season is upon us, it brings up joy and happiness in my heart. Yesterday I purchased 4 vinyl Christmas albums to kick off the season! Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Duke Elington & Jazz Mix.

Until next time...we wish you lots of love and blessings.

September

It's tough this time of year.
September 25th and it's averaging about 105 outside.
Now that we've been here 5 years, I gotta remember that in SoCal August September & October are our summer months.

We've made our home so healthy lately! We are making great use out of our juicer by juicing veggie juice & got a great countertop water filter that removes fluoride, chlorine among other nasty things.
B.E.S.T. has been incredible since I've mastered the treatment and we've seen huge improvements in Nel's body aches/muscle pain. I'm looking forward to getting certified!!

I'm knitting more and more! Perhaps a few Christmas gifts will come out of it!?
I've also started exploring and experimenting with my glass art design. Looking for new ways to transfer the image to surfaces!

Next weekend we are headed to beautiful Connecticut for our friend Charlie's wedding.
We are expecting the weather to be in the 60's with crisps cool fall nights. We'll see family friends and also make a trip to the Yankee candle factory!

Til next time, happy fall!

Summer Update

Here's an update from July & August!!

Nelly had so much fun playing baseball this year! He made a slew of good friends and was a solid hitter for The Dogs.
They made it to the playoffs but lost the first game in August putting them out of the race.
These photos are from their wooden bat game.

We have been cooking a lot and trying new recipes! I've posted the recipes on my facebook page with photos.
Here are a couple meals we made!

In July we had visitors from out of town! Ann MacPherson (my dads first cousins wife) came for moms weekend to see her son. And we all got together for an evening of improv!! It was great hanging with our friends Brian (Ann's son) & Simone, Ann, Simone's Sister Cozette, their mom Janice and our cousin Sarah (my dads cousins daughter). Truly a family affair!!

Our first year wedding anniversary (August 24th) rolled around fast!! We got so many well wishes from family and friends. The Saturday before we took a day to get out of town, and drove up to the Danish town of Solvang. We went wine tasting, ate lots of food, and enjoyed the shops.

Our Anniversary evening was spent at our favorite pub Timmy Nolans which is where we first met! I created a fun game for Nelly - he had to put pictures of events from the past year in chronological order and he surprised me with flowers at work.

This past weekend was hot hot hot - we averaged temperatures of 100 degrees and it was up to 109, 107 here in the valley.
The now famous Station fire began in the Angeles National Forest over the weekend and is visible from where we live. The fire is now under better control, and should be out by weeks end.

This photo above was taken on our drive out to Rancho Cucamunga to see a minor league baseball game (The Quakes) with some friends. The game was a nice break from the heat, and we enjoyed being outside of LA.

We've been hanging out as much as we can with Martha and the kids! They are growing up so fast and it's fun to be a part of it.
Sometime in August Adelee began calling me Jenny instead of "Nigh." She still calls Nel "BoBo" but she knows his full name is Nelson. Gordie is such a cuddle bug and loves his BoBo.

We're looking forward to falltime, and will update as we go along.

Parents Visit

We had a wonderful visit from my parents!
They came in on the 26th of June and left today.
We saw Scott perform in Comedy Sportz, I took mom hiking in the LA mountains, we hung at the pool with our neice & nephew, we saw the Dodgers play the Mariners, we went to the happiest place on earth, took them to the Hollywood Bowl to see John Fogerty, visited The Getty, Bob's Big Boy + classic car show, some more hiking, 4th of July cookout (Nels parents arrived that day), visited Venice beach, then topped it off with a gospel brunch at The House of Blues on the Sunset Strip.

Thank you Mom & Dad for such a great vacation!!!

April Update

It's been awhile since we last checked in here...here you go!

We learned we got pregnant around the end of January and then knew for sure at the beginning of February I had 2 sacs!
Unfortunately the pregnancy was not meant to last. We lost the pregnancy at the end of February and were sad for a small moment in time, but have no fear because we are excited to be parents soon in God's time! We feel it was more of a blessing than a tragedy. Through it we realized how ready we are to be parents and that we may not have any problems getting pregnant again!

Nelson has been having fun playing baseball, he's a good hitter and great at playing first base. He seems to catch anything that comes his way, who wouldn't if you were 6'4" and uber athletic like him.
We have spent lots of time over the past few months with our niece and nephew Adelee & Gordie. It is so rewarding to see them grow and learn. My name is "nigh" and Unky Nelbo's name is "BoBo."

We are seriously looking at purchasing a home by the end of this year. We have an awesome real estate agent, so the search has begun. We are going to take our time to find something that is right for us!

My business has taken off! I was in Las Vegas last week at an awesome training with my team, and I am amazed at the great people I get to work with!! Our lives have been truly blessed by my business, and I am eager to build big in 2009.

I am also singing a lot for a church in Culver City, CA. The church has a great community with great people and I'm so glad I have a place to share my gift with others.

Easter, we went to church and we made Pierogi's! Everyone loved them especially Gordie who slept 7:30pm to 4am. According to Martha, this is a record and she attributed it all to the Klapchuk Pierogi's! I also made a fabulous raisin & cinnamon bread to go with the ham. mmmmmmm.....

Coming up...
Jennifer turns 31 (May 6th) and Nelson turns 32 (May 30th)!!

2009 will be fine

Great opportunities are popping up for us!

We are planning to buy some property this year, which will be a dream come true. We can't wait to own our own home, decorate, etc. And perhaps start our family!

Nelson has signed up to play baseball with a hard-core league here in the Valley. I'm thrilled he has a new hobby, and can't wait to see his games this summer.
He's made some great contacts in the industry for his writing projects and I pray everyday that someone finds his work as amazing as we do!

I've been offered a new singing gig at a Jewish temple while still singing at Grace Lutheran. Plus my director has offered free voice lessons 3 times per month. So I think my music life is going to blossom even more in 2009!

We are excited about the future, and remember this time last year we were planning for our wedding with such anticipation.

Life is good, and we are so happy and blessed.

2008 in Review

2008 was an incredible year for us. It started out with all wedding planning! Getting my ducks in a row so to speak.
Mary (my mother in law) and Martha (my sister in law) threw the most elegant and beautiful 1st wedding shower for me in February. Guests included my bridesmaids Amber, Molly, & Martha and friends Elizabeth, Prudence, Shaheen, & Simone. My mom was in town, so it was a lovely fun event with the ladies! We enjoyed homemade scones, cookies, sandwiches, and tea while playing the helarious toilet paper wedding dress game!

In May we traveled to Seattle for joint wedding showers. My aunt Margaret and my dear friend Alison threw a beautiful wedding shower for me with friends and family, and my dad threw a "man shower" for Nelson over at my parents home. It was such a delightful celebration, I only hoped it could have lasted a lot longer. I was sincerely blown away at how many people came.

At the end of May Nelson and I traveled to Las Vegas to celebrate our birthdays (me 30, he 31). We stayed at The Golden Nugget and they decided to upgrade us when we checked in...

We went to the most incredible dinner at Hugo's in The Four Queens. It was perhaps one of the best meals we've ever enjoyed! Steak, Lobster, Salad and great company. We heard about this place from the FedEx lady who delivers to our office.

4th of July weekend we traveled to Michigan for yet another wedding shower! We flew into Detroit to visit Chuck's (my father in law) family. We first went to meet Rose, Nelson's grandmother and then went to visit with Patti (Nel's Aunt), Di (uncle), Patrick (cousin), other friends and family. What a great family!!!

We drove from Detroit to Dowagiac in the eastern part of Michigan. Dowagiac is where Mary (my mother in law) grew up. Her sister Carol, & brother Ed live there and Carol along with her daughter and her husband Art run the family furniture store. The store was first owned and started by Mary's parents. The store was wonderful! It is so beautiful and has everything anyone could want.

That day Carol threw a huge shower for me and Nel! So many people came that I had not met before, so it was a great introduction into his family. This night was my first introduction to fireflys. I'd never seen them before! I thought they were sparks from a fire or something! We celebrated our engagement while Cindy & Joe Burke (Mary & Chucks close family) celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary. The next day we drove to Ann Arbor to stay with Joe & Cindy and go out to dinner to celebrate their actually wedding anniversary. And a cool bit of knowledge is that Mary & Chuck met at Cindy and Joe's wedding 34 years ago!! So of course I asked them, "what is it that keeps you guys together, and going strong after all these years?" and Cindy relied "being good friends to each other."

While in Michigan we got the call from Chuck (Nelson's brother) that their baby boy was born! Gordon Russel Kaiton, our nephew!

I took one last trip to Seattle to finalize details for the wedding and then August 19th (5 days before the big day) we flew up to Seattle. It was the most wonderful event of our lives, and we had so many friends and family come to town. There were hicups along the way, but we handled them the way we always do...laugh about it!

After the wedding, Nelson and I honeymooned up in Leavenworth, WA. We took a quiet drive through Cle Elum to visit our favorite coffee shop Pioneer Coffee Company, and then an hour later of driving through the mountains we were at our destination. I'm so happy we chose such a beautiful spot to vacation, we have nothing but great memories of our trip.

In October we traveled to Michigan again for cousin Audrey's wedding (Carol's daughter). Audrey and Adam had the most beautiful wedding, and I just remember dancing my butt off with Nelson! We got to see aunt Nat there, and some other family members including Patti, Di, uncle Ed and aunt Diane. It was fun being married and going to a wedding!

Thanksgiving rolled around and we decided to stay in LA. We got all the food, and cooked our first Thanksgiving meal together. I made 2 pumpkin pies, garlic mashed potatoes, french string beans, yummy stuffing, biscuits, gravy, and an organic 11 pound turkey. Russ & Chuck (Nel's brothers) joined us for the feast!

Christmas was white for us in 2008. Seattle saw one of the biggest blizards since 1996 just 5 days before Christmas and we were able to enjoy the snow and cold weather during our visit. Mom and I even cross country skiied to The Roanoke for lunch!!

It's now a new year, and all we can talk about is when we can have a baby!! : ) We'll keep you posted on our progress.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
